Denis's love of Comedy, Films and Television.

Denis loved comedy and it gave him great pleasure over the years. There were the radio comedies to start with, Beyond our Ken, The Navy Lark, Around the Horn, Hancock, The Goon Show. Then there were the TV comedies, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, Reginald Perrin, Hancock's half hour, The Glums, Porridge, Open all hours, ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES,  The Yound Ones, Friday Night Dinner, Outnumbered, One Foot in the Grave, Ever Decreasing Circles (He used to say that he should have 'Here lies an old fart who liked filing' written on his gravestone, a cross between Victor Meldrew and Martin Bryce). There were more, but if there was a favourtie I think it would have probably been the Trotters.

He had a cherished DVD collection, with cold war espionage films such as The Ipcress File, Funeral in Berlin, and John Le Carre series such as Smiley's People, Tinker Taylor and A Perfect Spy. He much preferred that sort of spy drama to James Bond. He had many Second World War films and series, and also classic films, comedy and thrillers, such as Some Like it Hot, The Apartment, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Goodnight Mr Tom, The Bridget Jones Films, Four Weddings and a Funeral, When Harry Met Sally, which he loved, and of course, The Sound of Music. There were many more, but again, his taste was varied.

It would not be wrong to say he loved watching TV. Denis wasn't a drinker, watching TV was his way of unwinding. He enjoyed watching Saturday night TV, his family endured many evenings sitting through Noel's House Party, but he also loved Strictly Come Dancing and The Masked Singer so it wasn't all bad!
